Committed vs Interested: What's the Difference?

Are you committed to your 2025 goals, or are you just interested? Let’s explore the key differences.

Commitment is the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause or activity. It’s about taking consistent, deliberate steps toward your goals, no matter the challenges.

Interest, on the other hand, is simply showing curiosity about something you like and want to know more about. It's the initial excitement that fades when things get tough.

How you know you are committed:

  1. Impatient with the action, patient with the results

You focus on taking consistent action, knowing that the results will come with time.

  2. You make necessary changes

You remove distractions and alternatives, prioritising your goals to ensure they’re realised.

  3. Consistency is key

Even when motivation wanes, you show up every day and keep moving forward.

  4. You are driven

You’re in the driver’s seat of your own success, steering your journey with determination.

  5. You anticipate obstacles

You identify potential challenges and proactively address them, always having a Plan B ready.

  6. You track your progress

You measure your progress regularly and seek feedback to keep improving.

How you know you are just interested:

  1. FOMO

You feel pressured to make New Year’s resolutions because everyone else is doing it.

  2. You give up easily

If things don’t go perfectly in the beginning, you quit and place the blame elsewhere.

  3. Impatient with the results, patient with the action

You focus too much on the outcomes and don’t give the process enough time.

  4. "Next year is another chance"

You tell yourself you’ll start fresh next year, instead of taking action now.

  5. Your actions don’t align with your goal

Your actions today, yesterday, or last weekend don’t bring you any closer to achieving your goal.

  6. No review or measurement

You never track your progress, so you’re unaware of how far you’ve come or what needs adjustment.

Whether you're committed or interested, recognising the difference is key to understanding where you stand on your journey toward your goals.

So, ask yourself: Are you just curious about success, or are you fully dedicated to making it happen?
